This blog came to my mind by listening to Big B daily warning us: ‘Bharat me har din 6000 se jyada log Cyber Crime me’.
Thought of sharing, what we as Software Safeguarders are doing behind the scenes to help keep that number from getting worse.
One of the biggest evolutions hitting the software industry… especially in finance is Cyber Security. At work, it’s now one of my role to face the audit bullets on behalf of my application team. Not gonna lie — frustrating at first. But slowly you begin to get the WHY behind it. You understand the weight of this evolution.
So, what’s this fever shouting out loud?
-
Encrypt everything (at rest, in transit, in dreams…)
-
Review access of all privileged users (bye bye free rides)
-
Have a legit Business Continuity Plan (infra + app backup ready to roll if stuff hits the fan)
The tricky part? The architecture. Encrypting things at every layer isn’t just a checkbox — it’s a whole lifestyle. But yaaa… it’s genuinely the best practice, and I’m actually starting to enjoy it.
From a developer/DevOps’s view, it’s wild out here. Every move needs an approval. Nothing — I mean nothing — happens without a green signal from the CISO/CTO/CEO/Lord Vishnu. No more “bhai, just give me access to that xyz na”. LOL. No bro. Everything’s documented, timestamped, and future-audit-ready.
From the customer’s side (that’s you reading this), we’re doing this to keep your data safe. Even we can’t peek at it unless there’s a proper reason. And yeah — when you hit that “Insta Redemption” button, the amount better hit your bank immediately. That’s business continuity in action. If our server in Region X goes down, another one in Region Y spins up. zero crying. Smooth.
The whole Cloud Security framework is becoming the backbone of software practices in finance. And with the rise in cyber attacks, compliance isn’t optional anymore.
Right now, I’m just swimming in it. Holding my breath longer. Jumping off the cliff… landing safely in the pool of Security. Getting stronger. And yeah — not burning out. Not today.
